
Do you know someone who retired from work in the city and then relocated to the village? It turns out they made a good decision because rural living is not only good economically, it improves elders’ sense of well-being.
This particular study was conducted in Barcelona, and included 2621 persons aged 65 and older. They were classified as living in rural, semi-urban or urban settings, and their well-being (i.e., how they perceive their life) measured.
In old age, emphasis should be placed not just on being alive but on enjoying life. A positive mental outlook gives a boost to quality of life.
